As I understand it in Holland you can get free Methadon to cure any kind of addiction ( snow, hash, crack, synth etc)

However my addiction is incurable I got it when I was 6 years old and my grandfather gave me a gold St Gaudens 20$
At the time 1953 he still had 50 kilo bags of rice and 50 kilo bags of salt sitting in his living room but was relaxing enough to get rid of some of his gold stack believing the next worldwar would not be immidiately
He kept giving till I was 18 years old

When I spent 5 years at university my working fiancee gave me every month a gold Napoleon or Florin or Sovereign

So I ended up putting any money in gold coins
Common coins which had and have to be sold when times are rough
and not so common coins I try to hang on to

So I am kind of schizofrenic
I will buy on ebay coins between 10-20% below goldmelt (bottomfishing)
And I have some collector coins that I paid up to 234% over melt for

I keep a file with coins marked in three colors
Sell first- sell second- sell when in dire need-
The unmarked are not for sale unless starving

I married my fiancee ( 35 years now ) and we have an understanding
when gold gets to be valueless
she can have it all to wear as jewellry

People look at me like a crazy person when I tell them that I spent a thousand bucks on coins. There is literally nobody my age here who understands coin collecting, and it's kind of depressing. I did get a friend interested in it though.

I don't know, it's becoming an addiction, but like someone said already, it's a good addiction because you never really lose your money, it just appreciates (unless you got screwed over or something, then you lose money)

Last year I went a little overboard with spending on coins, no regrets. I was out of work and had plenty of time to devote to the hobby. I don't think I've bought anything this year, but that's just because I'm busy and not because I've lost interest. I've got my eye on the new AGEs and I'm waiting for the fractional buffalo pieces to come out. That will be a hefty purchase, more than make up for the last few months of inactivity. I can't resist the yellow stuff lately.

My problem comes and goes - there are periods when I'll only watch things, never pulling the trigger. I find it much easier to avoid buying now that I've abandoned my obsession with 1921 Morgans - nowadays, I want so many different things that I get mentally gridlocked, not knowing which shiny to go for first, and end up spending nothing.

I've been pretty actively buying lately, the result of converting my Morgan liquidation into other coins, but it's going to be a fairly quiet summer for me.

Yeah, right. You don't believe that either, do you?
