I just had a thought. When this gets to Septimius Severus this could be a very busy thread...

We need to have a little organization to this thread, with the identification of each ruler highlighted with information about the person. so, for example, Julius Caesar, the first of this series should be something like: Quote: JULIUS CAESAR Gaius Julius Caesar is one of the most famous men in history. At the end of his brilliant military and political career he had gained control of the Roman state. His puppet senate heaped more and more honors upon him. In February 44 B.C. the senate named him dictator for life. Many senators, however, feared that he wished to become king, ending the Republic. On the 15th of March 44 B.C., 63 senators attacked him with knives they had hidden in the folds of their togas. This most famous of assassinations plunged the Roman Republic into 17 years of civil war, after which it would re-emerge as the Roman Empire. Julius Caesar Denarius RSC 34 struck at Rome 44BC OBV: CAESAR IMP, laureate head right, lituus & simpulum behind REV: M METTIVS, Venus standing left with Victory & scepter, shield resting on globe; control letter G to left 3.81g, 18mm Coin is plugged and ex-mount. Note 1: If anyone wants to add to this historical background of any of the emperors, please do. Note 2: If you have a coin of a family member, i.e., wife, children, etc., post along with that particular emperor.

Quote: I have two coins of Scipio, one of Cassius and one of Sextus Pompeius....¿Must I pick up them? No, I don't think so. Even though the people you mention had a role in his history (I too have all three you mentioned), we will start with Julius Caesar and move forward. Now if you have a coin with any family member of JC, now would be the time to post it.
