Quote: i asked my brother via text a couple weeks ago how much silver he owns. he said 'none', and then started rambling about hockey. if you want a sampling of common people's mindset right now, there it is. This represents about 90% of the country right now. I brought up the conversation to a co-worker friend last week. He's a bit older than me, about 62, retired from his first job at the phone company, has a home, building a 2nd. Working now just waiting for social security. I asked if he had accumulated any gold or silver over the years. His answer was NO. I mentioned the recent run up in metals. He was completely oblivious about the whole thing. Not a clue. I might as well have been speaking in French. We are the minority. I blame it on the lack of a basic financial education in our society. Another thing I noticed is that not even the media is talking about this. I have not even heard a mention of what's happening. But you know that information is controlled by the same powers that manipulated the silver market this whole time. The one's that are in trouble now.

I had the same conversation with three different people, one of them a coworker (separate conversations, for what it is worth). One of them (not the coworker) said he did not peg me as a prepper. I am not. But it is telling that he associated just knowing about precious metals with that community.

People are still clueless as to what the metals prices are trying to tell everyone.

Quote: People are still clueless as to what the metals prices are trying to tell everyone. indeed. people are still clueless about what the metals are, let alone what they're trying to say. this is the only place I can go to talk about this. I don't personally know even 1 serious prepper or collector outside of this forum. well... I started paying attention a long time ago and that's all that matters. it eventually led me here. I'm glad I have a place to go to talk and learn more about this amazing event. glad I got into metals when I did. gold might seem to be lagging compared to Ag/Pt/Pa, but it's holding it's own and will no doubt join the other metals on the rocketship. it's had a nice breakout, but on low volume. that low volume won't last forever.

I've only met one serious prepper in real life. Someone I worked with around 1998-99, back when there was a little bit of a panic about "Y2k", and how all the computers were going to crash. Those of you that are old enough to remember will know what I mean. Anyway, he confided in me that he indeed was prepared. He said he had gold and silver bullion, a barrel of diesel fuel, and plenty of ammunition. Some of the items mentioned were buried, all of it was kept at his cabin in the woods, for when the poop hit the fan.

Quote: the power of negative propaganda coupled with willful ignorance... Yup.. This exact phenomena has the potential to make things get really interesting, really quick, if what I heard from one of the many silver speculators / commentators I follow comes to fruition. Regarding the masses of people that are not paying attention and don't have a clue, yet.... And even some of those that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the price to crash..... IF silver pushes to $100... Which is a good possibility considering the squeeze that's currently occurring... The media and propagandists may finally start talking about this to the general population.. Thus potentially triggering the ultimate FOMO (fear of missing out) where everyone and their granny will want to get in.. This could hypothetically be the catalyst that shoots silver and other metals even higher... Or, on the other hand, they could be buying at the top like 2011. This coming week, but especially after Jan 2 when China imposes restrictions on it's silver exports, should give us an idea of which direction it goes.

I might as well have been speaking in French. I've had similar experiences with friends and co-workers over the years. One co-worker called me a fool and even went as far as asking how my silver investing was going a few months later. He's a know-it-all type so I told him that I took his advice and sold it all after our last conversation. He was so happy. I told a friend about it a couple of years ago and suggested he start thinking about moving into physical PMs to diversify. He said he was open to it, but I don't know if that was just to avoid saying how he truly felt. I mentioned it a couple of times as silver was in the low 20s and he claimed his financial advisor told him not to do it. Oops. Most others look at me like I have a 3rd eyeball on my forehead. I have given up on talking about it unless they bring it up first.

You gotta wonder where the general population "learned" this "silver & gold is bad / paper money is good" mentality. To the one's that thought buying silver was a bad idea at $20. Someone should tell them that silver hit a high of around $83 Sunday night 12/28 when the commodities market started trading. Before pulling back to $75. Not a bad return on $20.. I only wish I had bought more.

Barely. Poor planning from those who wrote the checks back then. Quote: give me your best shot... Fire away... They have tanks. TANKS!
