SOMETHING I DON'T GET:
When the price got beyond $27, I only see a**a and 2**2.
This is bewildering because the two bidders, apparently, bid 2 or 3 times consecutively. Why wouldn't they just add $15 dollars instead of three 5 dollars?
It's something worth thinking about

The 7 certainly looks different from normal. The normal is a curved 7 in 1947 50c terms, but this looks like a straight 7/7.
And then there is a dot between the 3 and 7.
The right vertical stroke of H of EH looks too long.
It there a chance it is a counterfeit?

@noah Seventeen non-payers is a bummer. Is that an abnormally high percentage of your sales or usual. I have never sold anything on ebay so I don't know - but I have never failed to pay for something I won even if I didn't really expect to win and didn't really want it. And a new bidder right in there... you probably have every right to be suspicious. But then all of us had only 2 wins at one time. I hope it works out for you. |

Well after a closer look there is definitely something not right with the "7" digit... It should be a "pointed 7" similar to that of the 1947 pointed dollars... But this one is not... First pic is noah's coin... 2nd pic one of mine...   cameron93 |

Abnormalities on obverse as well... In my opinion coin is counterfeit... A pretty good one, but still a fake... First pic noah's coin... 2nd pic is mine.   |

Huh, interesting. I have no reason to believe it is a couterfiet, but it could be. Why would someone counterfeit such a common coin?

It could be that the buyer found your listing via an oddball search, and got caught in a bidding war without doing a broader search. Those "X****X" usernames are typically shills/snipe accounts, so it's strange to see one sell for so much. It is possible that your 1937 Dollar was a proof, which would make the end price make sense.
Funny story, I was meeting with a supplier to get some coins, and I noticed a 67 quarter on his desk. He was on the phone, I motioned I wanted it along with some other stuff I was picking up, he mouthed "$3", I paid, and off I went.
So one of the regulars came along at the flea market, and he asks me what the "friend" price is (I had it tagged at $10, wanting $8). I gave it to him for $5. He handed over the money hurriedly, and said "The deal is done, so now I can tell you this is a diving Lynx, I have been wanting one for years". He made a point of showing me the slight angle twist, nowhere near the Diving Loon Dollar variation, as if he wanted to rub it in. I shrugged and said, "I guess you got a deal, but so did I".
