Good score wolfman-11 , I love it when you find rolls of young head pennies that someone dumped or gave up on. You saved them from the melting pot.

Quote: You saved them from the melting pot For now I suppose. If they are just common, and a person has a nice one in their set already, what happens to the rest. I'm sure many people throw them back. I will likely hang onto them for now, but if a bullion collector is buying who knows. How many people here would keep them "Just because"?

Quote: There is nothing rare about this one, but in person it is beautiful with the gold and purple. Lovely toning.

It was nice to see someone else find coins that were not intended for circulation. The wife and I picked up 2 2013 "O" Canada quarters from circulation as well as one of the Canada post tokens. I love the tone of that Penny. I still find them from time to time as I clean out drawers at home. I've collected a few of the 1996 semi attached nickles but I would imagine the attached is almost impossible to find. Thanks for sharing all the great finds

Went through the last bag of pennies with older Canadian finds being: 1944, 1946, 1949, 1950(2), 1952, 1953(5), 1955, 1957(6), 1959(3). Also found another 10 wheat cents (threw a bunch back) with the oldest being 1930.

Finally go around to sorting through my Canadian Small Cent CRH finds from over the years. I accumulated nearly 400 coins and got to putting them into folders; fun little learning journey. I was able to fill 67 spots leaving around 43 spots unfilled along with finding a few varieties. As might be expected, a great number of the missing are the earlier dates although I do have a 1920 specimen. But I learned that while mintage is low, it's probably semi-key at best. Anyway, it was long overdue and now I have a much better sense of what I need to keep an eye open for. Makes me eager to order a box of cents to see what Canadian treasures might be found down here especially after seeing otrain pull out a fine 1923S LWC and a 1930 George! The nickel hoard will be next!

I picked up a box of nickels, and when I opened it I felt it had been searched. After about 10 rolls there was nothing pre '82 so I was sure. I kept going anyway and I am glad I did.

Quote: I kept going anyway and I am glad I did. It certainly paid off! I've still never found a bare belly. Finished 10 MWR of dimes. It was hardly worth it because there was only one 1968 (nickel) and the rest were plated steel. However, I did get a 2002 upgrade to my set. Do any of you look at the modern coins while roll searching? It just seems very time consuming, at least for dimes. Also, is there such a variety on the flags of the 2013/2014 dimes? I vaguely recall hearing about this but I could not see any difference, if there is any.
