CC-Ottawa, biggest reason for my theory, almost everyone on RFD only started collecting last year, and almost everyone's answer for what got them into NCLT was the $20 for $20.

On top of that look at how much more coins are being pumped out and sold out in the last 2 years, vs 5 years back.

less impressive if comparing total number of coins and not simple number of varieties of coins. A sell more of the same coin or sell less of many different coins

I'd agree with the RFD comment though one might question how many of those folks are really coin collectors. Don't flame me for that comment - I know some of the people over there are collectors and sellers but many seem purely in it to flip coins so I wouldn't consider them coin collectors.

But even so, that's maybe 100 or so people? Not to be flippant, but I suspect more coin collectors have died in past year than that.

I think it's kind of like good TV shows. We assume because we watch a show, everyone must watch it. Show of hands - SOA?

As for volumes, I don't think the total NCLT coins issued has changed much over the years. More offerings, but the total coins would similar (I think). Certainly the prices have increased though.

my review on the the mint site was for the coin which I gave 5 stars.....not the way RCM handled it or all that jazz....that should be reviewed in a survey or a comment to them about there service....not on the page about the coin...defiently the nicest glass coin in the series so far...IMO alot more detail on the glass..

Didn't the first $20 4 $20 come out 2 years ago, just as silver prices were at their peak? The rise in silver prices must have played a role in people getting into the hobby. The 20420 is only 1/4 ounce of silver, but that didn't seem to matter at the time, since many thought silver would reach $100+ an ounce or higher someday and the bullion value would eventually outshine the numismatic value.

Also, the idea to convert fiat money into silver is very attractive. Some people thought (or still think) that they could use the coin like cash at a grocery store or a restaurant, etc., but that's an illusion, as apparently it can only be used as an investment with a bank. Somehow, the idea of using silver as money comes into play here?...

I call the same day (around 5:00) when new coins came out & Mint customer support lady told me Venetian glass were sold out.
But now I just read the review on Mint site, that somebody mentioned, that they purchased this coin online in the evening!
Did the Mint customer lady lie to me?

The coin came back in the evening of the first day for about 30 minutes. It changed from awaiting stock to in stock for a brief time. It was posted in the RFD forum. So people should stop complaining about flippers on RFD when you could pick up good info from that forum.

Hey all,

Just found this forum while I was searching up info on this new venetian coin. Not sure if anyone noticed but this morning at 12am, Canadian Coins and Currency, put the coin up for sale at the issue price of $149.95. I went to their website right after seeing the new coins added to the Mints website, and the Venetian coin was sold out (which I figured it would be). So I got one of these coins for $149.95 this morning at 12:15am, lol.... and I am super pumped about it.

It was crazy to read all the reviews on the Mint website... I understand that it is frustrating to not get what we want, even if some of your who didn't get it were MC members. I had no actual belief that I would be able to buy this coin for the issue price, but got lucky. Canadian Coin and Currency now has the coin listed for $249.95... crazy, lol. Can't wait for this coin to arrive, definitely my most expensive coin so far.

Plus, I was able to grab the new Maple Canopy coin for issue price from the same website this morning... super excited right now. haha.

Good luck to everyone else who is trying to get one!

I give CC&C tons of credit for releasing stock at issue price. I'll be sure to give them some business down the road.

@aswitzer Welcome to the Forum.

I heard the coins were first come first serve. I'm not sure if they had a quantity limit in place for X number of orders that can go through or if they'll only honour up to a certain point and cancel the remaining. Either way I'm sure they were flooded with orders. If they hold true to all the orders I'm sure they will have tons of return customers ;)
