Ya wanna Klingon coin?  The Shire Post Mint, a fantasy coin maker, used to make and sell these, along with coins of Middle Earth (Tolkein) and other non-places. They seem to have scaled back on most of these issues - they apparently ran into copyright problems. Joelscoins still sells them; that's where I found the picture. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

My girlfriend was just telling me last night that Lucasfilm has cracked down on Star Trek fan related items in terms of copyright protections that is having the negative effect of destroying the fan base. They are clamping down on Fan Fiction, Fan Videos, etc. This is ironic since Star Trek pretty much was the origin of all fan culture that developed -- Trekkie Conventions and the like.

** UPDATE **
There seem to be quite a few repeat guesses and...um...bizarre guesses. But overall this is turning out to be a very fun contest for me.
HINT # 3 (for those that have no guessed yet)
The coin has "REPUBLICA DE" on it.
