WOW! I don't often get feedback on where my counterstamped coins go! Any idea where this box was picked up?
I checked my records. That particular half was stamped on 8/31/10 and released here in Tucson.
I counterstamped 20 halves over the weekend, and plan to have them spent this week so's that I can help out with the project 100K thread. I used to only spend the halves one at a time but lately I've been using them four or five at a time when stocking up on goodies from the convenience stores.
I get sorely tempted sometimes to buy a box of halves, just to see how many of mine are in there. My last half purchase was from a friend of mine in Phoenix who sold me $200 worth. He's a golden dollar fan but buys the halves (and Ikes) from the banks he visits and he in turn sells them to me. I haven't yet gotten any of mine back from the PHX area banks, but I have gotten three of mine back in roll searching. Only three, so I need to get more of them out there.
I just went to the YouTube link and read the comments. I busted up laughing when someone suggested that DCM stands for "Denver Coin Mint". Aye yai yai!
I did $10 worth of quarters two days ago. And I've done lots of half dollars recently too. I keep watch on the CRH thread for halves, hoping that they'll find their way out of Tucson.
Hey all, have attempted to post some pics of cent-in-question as requested...apparently the image optimizer tool doesn't work with Chrome, still trying
