Hondo,
Thanks for the opine. I was starting to think about selling them. Eventually I will.
Together with a Fine 1938-D the four remain the survivors of the Walker Sell Off.
Look, kids. When one gets on in years one starts to turn big piles into smaller piles.
I have sold off most of dad's coins. BUT NOT THESE!
Somehow, they are special.
Now, my Great Aunt Tootsie's coins? Some have been sold but others remain to form a good part of my sets.
To be sure some have been sold/traded to get upgrades.
Here is the thing:
It is NOT any one individual coin that is important, but rather the GOAL of the collector. When I
inherited the
Barber dime set from my Aunt, the 1895 was the most valuable coin. Today it has
been overshadowed by six or eight other coins.
Still, I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
To balance sentiment and expediency is my current curse.
To endure the curse, I thank dad and Tootsie every time that I turn over one of their coins for another.
My sister Rosemary has no such qualms. She simply says, "I trust you to manage the coins."
I could not ask for a better sister!
