I do not know about other countries but in france around
1850-1852 gold started to get hoarded instead of spent
Goldcoins after 1852 are easier and cheaper to get in AU then before that period

Perhaps what is really needed is just more terms to differentiate the different eras of US and world coinage.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I wonder after absorbing the information that has been presented on this topic , how many minor differences could be averted through an understanding of each of the diverse opinions that have been relayed!!

Hopefully some insight will be gained for each of us ,as to the diversity which makes this one of the greatest of all hobbies and for most a life style .
