GR58- Yes, I have done this too. I have a nice little hoard of Ikes going. My monster box is mainly circulated Ikes, but I do have a few rolls of uncirculated Ikes from mint sets. My pride and joy, though, is my PCGS set. And basebal21 is right: Ikes are addictive. I will probably keep buying them from time to time. I have 4 extra rolls to start a new monster box. Who knows? Only 21 more rolls to go. Here's my little hoard:

If they were mine, at some point (perhaps after a beer or two), I would put them all in a big pile in the living room, and dive in.

:) I have done this a few times. lol

Excuse me while I stare and drool.

Couldn't agree more. Now I have to clean my LCD screen.

I gave all my Ikes to my two sons. Looks like time to start another collection.

Going back to putting my Dansco Ike album together, I found out how hard it is to get nice 71 and 72's, so I agree ... as most know they were not in the mint sets .. so they can't be harvested there.

They really are problematic. It seems like either how many nice ones are still around is overestimated or people hoard them when they do finally find some. I spent far more time on those two (especially the 72) than the rest of the album combined.

Sounds like you have a good situation for finding IKEs though. I couldnt agree more with keeping every nice 71 and 72 you can get your hands on especially the P mints.

Its a shame Ikes never really caught on. Theyre much more impressive than the dollars coins today. Theres just something spectacular about seeing a bunch of nice large Ikes together

When I am sorting through large groups, at coin shops, most times I don't have a lot of time to check each one.

So I try to get the coins that seem to have some luster, and not any major problems. From my experience, even the Ike's that are in mint sets are not always nice looking.

It is sort of funny that once I started putting Ike's away, I am seeing fewer Blue and Brown Ike's. I do feel that there will be cycles where more of them come into LCS's.

Funny how it is easy to miss window's of opportunity, if I had been putting high grade Ike's away for the last 20 or 30 years, then the nicer coins could have been gotten for cheaper than they are today. I don't think that window is closed yet .. but the raw super grade coins are getting harder to find. Just my opinion.

I am also hoarding them but nowhere near what you guys have, but I only started collecting numismatic coin several months ago. I am focusing only on silver but have a dozen or so clad I acquired here and there. I was going to cash them in but after joining here I don't like spending any coins.

Blue Ikes are the bulk of my meager start, probably about 15 or so, a half dozen brown Ikes, several in 2x2s and several PF69 DCAMS. Too bad they didn't mint any 90% Ikes, or even some silver proof Suzies.

I am definitely hoarding away! When asked why, I can't give a really good answer, just love the coins.

I now see why there are no more Ikes in circulation. A few members here have them all.
Fantastic collections.

This sort of ...got put on the back burner.
But .....
I did pick up 45 Ike's today and pushed me over
500 coins. It was fun, but I think I will still
be culling out some that are circulated.

Also I like the roll of 40% coins, I think I will
do a few more rolls .. when I can get them at a
good price.

Interesting the box, with 500 coins, weighs 27 1/2 pounds
