sorry I forgot that dang thing called work got me bouncing all over but no I have not got as chance to get back to them in this matter probably lost in the dark hall of evidence room

Welcome back from the depths of the earth.

I'm glad you got your 'treasure' back.

I don't suppose the police have any way of investigating anything so old and I doubt that there is much interest or any reason to do so.

But if you're curious, try a local historian. Your local reference librarian can find out who that is for you.

It is a really curious item. It makes me wonder how many people got that kind of bridge way back then. It couldn't have been cheap and I think a poor person would have just gone without the teeth...but maybe not.

I'm also curious about what one does in the depths of the earth....mining?

Okay -- I had to go look that up.

Neat equipment but I'm scared just thinking about it. Still, it's probably safer than being on the road in the Midwest during a polar vortex.

Good luck with that bridge. It's a nice bit of gold and it is definitely The Strangest Find.

not to bad I've been doing this for some time and never a near miss ....ive had more close calls on the road than I've had underground
