We had about 100 rolls and asked NGC to go through them and pick out the small dates and grade them for us.
Since when do TPGs search coins for you? I wonder if there's any connection to this auction of theirs:

This subject may be already beat to death, but new weirdness keeps turning up!

My opinion (because I am entitled to one)
That the numismatic world wake up and put Anacs above
and beyond both PCGS and NGC.
Period.

I agree completely. I just don't know if any of them can really be on top and continue to be superior without starting the kind of crap that NGC gets away with. Don't get me wrong PCGS does plenty of bad attributions and poorly grades too when they are really busy. Not to mention there mechanical errors on coins valued at $5,000.

I agree as well, I absolutely prefer ANACS for many reasons!

That's the place. "Ask NGC" I still don't see it. I didn't get a response either. When I submitted the thread, it said all would be reviewed by a moderator (or something like that) before posting. I was extremely nice about it. I talked about how I liked NGC and didn't want them to get a bad reputation and so on. Truth is, I don't care one way or the other. I don't even own a graded coin yet, so I don't really have a preference. I guess they still didn't like it. I posted it on Thanksgiving so I figured it would take a day or so, but still nothing.

Something just occurred to me: Maybe NGC has it right!
Maybe, in all these years of attributing the 1970S SM/LG dates, we are the ones that had it wrong?

Yup, that's gotta be it.

OK, that just means that the other half of them in NGC slabs are wrong instead of this half.

I guess it pays to look at the coin when grading and attributing coins. LOL

I suppose I'll wait until the seller puts some "large dates" up for sale.

What a conversation, I messed up recently. My coin shop had a gorgeous 1970 sd and I passed in the hope of finding one the old fashioned way (still searching) kinda got frustrated went the ebay direction probably looked at most of the auctions referenced in this thread a large number of the said small date? I viewed the picture told the guy its a large date and he said I just dont know I suggested GOOGLE this is the side of buying on ebay I shy from.

O.K.... I read the first page, (don't know how I missed this topic.)... didn't read the next 5 pages , but did read the last one...
It is defiantly a LARGE DATE, don't know how a TPG can charge a fee and say it is a small date.
Look at member COOP's pictures, it will show perfectly between Large Date and Small Date Lincolns..

Can't find the link..
