So, do you find most of the coins in circulation? Where do you get all of the silver and proof sets?

Local people who want to unload their collections.

Up here in Canada, you'd be pressed to find any silver.

So do you just run an add in the paper or something?

Local classified online is free. Print paper wouldn't be worth it because there is too much competition for gold and silver.

Some of my relatives know some people, so I'm pretty lucky there.

Yeah, sounds like you're set up. Once I sell off some inventory, I may try that. Thanks!

I'm at the 300-400 range. Stocked up on pennies before they were pulled from circulation. After they are sorted they are sold off by the roll and it has really boosted my collection. The profits get reinvested into ICCS graded coins, win win :)

If the US gets rid of pennies, which I hope they don't, I plan on doing the same thing. You set yourself up good!

LOL I should be so lucky! I sell duplicates of coins I've upgraded, so my sales are very occasional and normally make me back what I paid. If I'm lucky.

The fees are high. 12.9% +.3 is expensive, but try going to any flea market and getting as much publicity as ebay has and lower fees.

You say high Bassmaster, but generally we don't know what dealers and coin shops are charging over purchase cost. I suspect in most cases it is more than the ebay 15% or so.

And auction houses, well, most times a purchase will be 25% more than hammer (the price agreed in the auction room).

So for a very large marketplace, ebay costs are reasonable, I think. Though not, I agree, compared to flea markets, car boot (yard) sales and the like!
