This coin was owned by a really good friend that collected coins for years. It was a bad year for him and he passed away about 6 months ago. And he had the hole set of Lincoln's cent. This coin and a 1922 no D were his biggest investments. He paid $2000.00 each. I helped his wife sell off his collection to a dealer (made sure she didn't get ripped off). I sure learned a lot about what happens when you go to sell your coins!
In life as you buy coins you pay whatever, hole sale, retail. I think he paid top price for most of his coins because he liked them and wanted them. But unless your willing to put the times into selling them on
ebay or to other individuals at retail, you will never get your money back. I have become very cautious at paying too much for a coin anymore. Dealers only want to pay below hole sale so they can sell retail. I was fortunate, I have a friend that is a dealer and my friends wife got the best deal on her coins she could get. And she offered me a price on this 1909s that I couldn't refuse just cause I helped her so much. As far as her 1922no D that he paid so much for, it's dropped in price more than half so she's going to hang on to it for a while. If your going to leave your coins to family when you pass away, show them how to sell if they don't want them. I'll keep this coin for ever cause it will always remind me of him, I guess it was a bad investment cause I'll never forget him anyway. I'll take more pictures of it today now that it's slabbed to post. I am proud of it
