This is my rarest coin. The only surviving silver denarius of this type from Charlemagne. I checked it a couple of days ago with the Dutch money museum. The whereabouts of the piece that was found in the 19th century are currently unknown, so I have the only one, known to science. A couple of years ago, I've found this denarius form Beziers with the metal detector. Obv + CARLVS REX FR Rev + BEDERRIS = BEZIERS DEPETROT 148 D(mm): 21 W(gr): 1,02 Only 3 coins, including this one. are known to history, (as far as I know). S.Coupland wrote about this coin: "The others are from a lost hoard in Italy (Bondeno) of which no pictures exist, and one recorded by van der Chijs as found in Wijk bij Duurstede in the 19th century"

I recently purchased this mint state Maximinus I denarius, graded and authenticated by NGC. I'm not a big fan of slabbed ancients, but this was a very pretty coin and I won it on ebay for a reasonable price.
