It has a fairly low grade but it looks nice I think its a nice colour and the crown isn't to worn. I don't need it in that slab thing so can I take it out of that as well. Thanks guys. Just tell me what you think it would be worth before I commit please. Regards sweetap.

Hi Shane. Thank you for that. The reason I want to take it out is its for a project I'm working on that's all. What do you think it is worth if I may ask.

And is there that many crooks selling coins really Wow I'm just stumped that people would stoop so low why on heck rip people off. Life is way to short to be dishonest.

Looks like the old saying is wrong after all and crime does pay hehehe LOL sorry , just trying to be funny guys.

Sorry peter I only a novice who wants these for a project I have out lined earlier in the post. And I'm afraid with the amount of fake coins I have encountered in a week or so I'm way out of my league to be making a decision of this kind hence I came here for some help. I have already purchased a fake and don't want to make the same mistake again.

But I do like this one for some strange reason. I have made an offer and will see what happens. Thank you for helping.

Hi Sweetap,

Based on images, I have this coin assessed at 'VF', or there-abouts, with a book value of around $400.00.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Hi Tim thank you for that, VF is ok for me and $400 is not to bad he only wants $250 I think its not a bad deal then. I really like the colour.

I just wanted to know that it was worth now I just didn't want to pay $250 to find out its worth 150 that was all. thank you.

I don't care if its worth more I wont need to sell it.

PS I no what the VF is very fine , but where you get the book price from I didn't even know there was a price book and how does that work and where do I find that sort of information.? Thank you again Tim.

Hi Sweetap,

Both Renniks and McDonalds publish valuation guides on Australian currency that is reasonably frequently updated (compared to other sources).

You can also find some valuation information on my resource site, under 'currency guides' (the following link):

http://www.tdkapdc.com.au/australia...-guides.html

'Book Value' is based on RRP from retail outlets, and thus, not what you might expect to pay or receive via auction or from a private seller, where cost of sale, (or obligation after sale), impacts retail value.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Tim Bowden

The slabbed coin is a bargain at $250. It looks like either an XF45 or AU50 and at AU50 a slab is at least $500. Also it has a thin leg N, a good variety to have.
The OP coin is totally dodgy, it isn't an altered date and even without looking at the date it is an obvious fake (look at the feet of the lettering, way too thick).

Hi Neil and thank you for replying. Yes I think I'm going to just buy it. Its marked XF 40 on the other side sorry I should have put that pic up for you.

I don't know much about the grading only what the guys here have shown me, But yes I thought it looked better than what they have it . The guy said he has priced it to sell.

I just hope its not one of the fakes the guys here said were getting around in these slab things.

Forgot to mention its a PCGS slab and its xf40 there is a pic with the coin but for some reason its really small.

And Neil the 1930 coin in the OP , is at this location and currently bidding is at $485. That is a lot for a fake I think.

Hi Shane. Yes not looking good is it for the seller. I have a feeling that might not be gold in that coin. 3 feedbacks I bet he is going to sell heaps of fakes till he gets kicked off. God knows how many people are going to be hurt buy him.

Geez just when you have faith in people they shoot you down again.

I hope someone can stop him its not the buyers fault how can anyone tell from just a photo if its real or not.

He says its cheap how much do they cost normally.
