Bought this in a weak moment at the local coin shop And I probably overpaid But hey, it's my first 1931S and I like it. I had a grade in mind when I purchased. I'll let you know in a couple of days what I thought it was. Until then, please let me know how you would grade. Thank you!

Don't know what you paid but, you have a very nice coin there..
With the slight rub on Lincolns face, looks AU-58 to me for such a hard to find '31S in that condition..

I'd call it AU55. Great color for an AU coin.

I'm leaning towards 63 RB also. Great looking coin.

Great coin! I couldn't go MS...I'd be solid at AU58RB and would be stoked to have it!

I give it the ol' AU63RB and holy cow, that is a stunning coin! The eye appeal just works for me. Mind if I ask what you paid to make you feel like you overpaid? I would have had a hard time passing this one up for sure.

I'd say AU-58, but quite possibly MS-63. And yes I agree that this is a RB beauty for sure.

It's a very nice coin.
During the Depression even a cent could buy
a very stale loaf of bread.

OK, time to spill the beans...

I thought it was MS-62 RB when I bought it. It seems that I might have been in the ballpark.

As for the price, I paid $210 (the most I have spent on a coin in my life...). Again probably too much, but I'm happy with the coin and I definitely won't be trying to upgrade any time soon!

Thanks for all of the grades so far and if anyone else has an opinion on the grade I would really appreciate to hear it.
