Look closer, Nancy. It reads:

1/100 = one hundredth of a dollar

1/200 can be found on some Half Cents

I am a member with my roots in the Ancients section, so I`m gonna spring the "Distilled Water Brings Out Details" rant. If you put it into Distilled Water, you will get the last of that crud off. I woulf grade it XF-AU Details, environmental damage.

Thanks everyone! Dan, how long would you soak it? I've always wanted to get a glob of Roman coins and soak them in oil for a year!

The amount of time a coin would spend in DW (Distilled Water) is relative to the amount of crusty stuff on the coin and how hard the crusty stuff is. You could probably clean up the fields in about a month and a half. If you want to use oil, you can, and it will take on a darker, olive patina.

I would soak it in DW for a month or two. Then decide about olive oil.
