I'll look into those too! As far as Perth Mint Lunars... I think I'm leaning toward the 2 oz. I don't have any 2 oz coins of any type and sounds fun and almost all the reviews just seem to love the size and how it brings out the quality of this series. We'll see :)

The 2s are a great size to collect.

How important (or not important) is it to purchase at the release date. I figure it may have to do with the drop in PM prices; but for instance, the 2014 (with a little over two months left in the year) the price of the horse has a significant price over the 2015 sheep. Do prices rise throughout the year? Or is this because of the price drop in PMs? I am just wondering because I am for sure going to get the 2014 horse ASAP, but am wondering about the ability to hold off on the 2015.

Thanks again for all the quick responses. I'm not sure why it took me so long to find this series! I was never really a huge fan of most lunar series coins, but the consistency and quality these seem to produce every year truly seems special!

Vesper, these Lunar coins usually come out in September so the 2014 horses have been out since last year. They are usually cheaper at release and you will also see a 'sale' as dealers try to clear inventory before the new coin comes out. I have found it safe to purchase the sizes that I like before the new year arrives.

When you say "found it safe" before the new year arrives... are you referring to purchasing, for example, the 2015 sheep before new years 2015? Or 2014 horse before new years 2015?

I haven't been doing this long enough to have experienced it one way or the other but I've heard through others that buying them right away when they come out is generally the cheapest, but hu5kers has a very good point about inventory clearing...similar to car lots I suppose.

Vesper, I meant buying the Goats before next years (September 2015) issue come out. I think the Horse design is a great one and like the Tiger, it will be a highly sought after coin in a short while. If you can get them cheap now I would also jump on the Horses.

Great! Thanks so much again! I will getting the 2oz horse very soon :) I'll start there and should have some time to organize when I'll move on to possibly acquiring earlier years and the new 2015 Goat.

Just sharing some of my lunar pickups. A roll of the 2oz 2014 horses and a kilo goat coin. Really enjoy these kilo coins.

I'm trying to complete set in 1/2oz 1oz and 2oz. Still missing a lot of earlier ones. Here's what I have so far. I love designs on those coins much more than on series one.
