Quote: What if you get somebody that collects something obscure? Something that is hard to find? One of my first Secret Santas was from Australia. Obviously, someone in Australia is probably not going to be easily able to obtain something that I actively collect in the US. However, I was sent a 1927 Parliament Florin which was my first Aussie coin. The next year, my SS was also Australian and I got an awesome mix of 3d and 6d coins. Those two Secret Santa gifts were enough to spark my interest in starting an Australian coin collection in addition to my US interests

To me it's the thrill of exchanging a gift and getting something that you may not have of seen before. It may be something that as stated before opens a new vista in your collecting. It may be something that complements what you collect or better yet something that is unique. So bring on the Secret Santa's to this diverse group of collectors. It is in this exchange, that we all as different as we are, become one spirit.

50th post here! Was really interested in this and have been working hard to reach the necessary amount of posts to enjoy sending someone a gift that expresses the enjoyment I receive from coin collecting! Count me in! Will PM when I figure out how to.

I have enjoyed doing this for the past 4 years and introduced it to my coin club last year for our Christmas meeting. 12 members decided to exchange and was fun for all!
