Looks like this year the NCLT are popular, the demand exists. So although some nice sales here and there, no huge discounts introduced by CP or big dealers.

Quote: Looks like this year the NCLT are popular, the demand exists I think supply vastly outstrips demand. I was at the local post office the other day and they have several display case absolutely jammed with coins. All 2012 were 40% off and all 2013 were 25% off. I can't image how CP does not have a huge sale soon...likely Monday.

Yeah, somehow I'm just mildly interested, very unlike last yr, where I bought a ton. I guess the discounts just aren't big enough to propel me to the buying stage. It's almost like I'm bored or something. Maybe it's a good thing, there's the Landon penny hoard auction coming in Feb. I'd really like to get some large cents and it's an interesting piece of history. The guy lived right at the proper time in history to collect large cents. He was around for the birth of Canada !!

I have collected some large cents as well , not many but I perfer them over the smaller later years cents.

Picked up some Black Friday bargains at C/A; Hopewell Rocks $43, Commem SD's '78, '83 for under $10 each. Now on a serious coin purchasing hiatus until after the New Year. There are some absolutely super deals out there, make your list and check it twice.
I was sniping the Hopewell Rocks coin for at least the last year possibly longer. I'm a former geologist (still active on weekends), I have an appreciation for these Flower Pot formations. Can't wait to see this coin. Ping, another one off the list.

I'm right there with you northern, it seems we hold similar tastes and opinions. I'm going to need to learn how to calculate all the extra fees into a bid, so I can do some intelligent bids , so I don't overspend and get myself in trouble!! I've never bid in those kinds of auctions. I'm going to need a tutor. I'm watching tonight's Canadian auction.
darn I'm getting too many interests, not to mention my collecting habits are advancing. I'm hanging out too much on the forums, along with private chats with advanced collectors. I was just a haphazard casual pocket change collector prior to 2012. It's an interesting progression. I do like something that engages the mind. I'm definaty not a gamer, I don't understand the appeal!
The only small cents that I find very appealing are 1920-1936. I absolutely love the Pre 1937 designs on our Canadian coins, I feel they have a lot of class.

Ha ha I hear ya , same with me although I was once a hardcore online gamer(its more an addiction then an appeal I think lol ) but its started to bother my eyes so I pretty much gave that up , coin collecting is a bit more costly " cough" "cough" but I dont need to sit for hours and I do mean hours (all nighters at times)playing a MMO such as WoW or EverQuest which I have played both , I think I started playing EQ in 2000 but stopped playing any MMO like 4 to 5 years ago .

My only experience with CA was an order where I was told by email 3 days after that 3 items are sold out and the items left of my order were shipped 2 weeks later with free shipping because of their mistake.
