I see what you mean, we'll I suppose that's a pretty good reason not to finish something. It still must be pretty detailed though as I found it extremely difficult to find any information online about some of the ones you identified with the book. Here's hoping I find one as informative.

I just had a quick look billfrak, it looks like the charlton catalogue deals primarily with Canadian tokens. I believe the majority of mine are Scottish although I haven't properly identified them all yet.

If you have Amazon in the UK, they have several books listed:

That link seems to bring up different copies, for sale, of the Brook text I linked to for free in the public domain.

Bottom middle, the Kirk of New Cumnock. Wikipedia attempts to explain the history of the Old and New Churches of Old and New Cumnock, with variable success:

Quote:
In 1509, Cumnock was made a burgh of barony and a market began at Cumnock Kirk, 6 miles (9.7 km) north-west of (New) Cumnock Castle. In 1659, a new kirk was built near (New) Cumnock Castle and became known as the New Kirk of Cumnock, now called the Auld Kirk of New Cumnock. Cumnock Kirk became known as Old Cumnock and is now known as Cumnock.

Thank you once more Philadelphian, I just found a site selling these tokens too, it turns out I have about £3000+ worth if the prices on there are anything to go by, but it's going to be a long process cataloging them all even with a book.

I have another dilemma, is it better to order them by date or by location? So far I've arranged them by date 1680 - 1799 but as I move on to the 19th century of which I have around 200 of, I'm beginning to wonder if it would be easier to reference back to if they were ordered by location. Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter?

Personally, I sort my communion tokens by location. Partly because most of the rest of my collection is geographically sorted, partly because, in many instances, dates for communion tokens are only approximately known, whereas the location is usually known with more certainty.

Well, finally finished sorting them. Went with date after all. They're going to be entered into auction in January, and have to be submitted before the 17th December. So if anyone wants any or is looking for a specific one let me know before then and I'll keep it aside.
