garys64wildcat Pillar of the Community United States 593 Posts	Posted 12/16/2014 12:35 pm I save about every cent prior to 1983 since I have a hard time telling the copper from zinc. And the nicer 84 and newer. The way it looks the zincolns will dissolve into the ground if let lay. I have picked up some 2010+ that are half dissolved. I'm saving them for the Grand kids I think of some old Wheaties I have found from the teens that are worn about slick and still not etched other than wear and tear. I doubt if too many zinc will be around 100 Yrs. Report this Post to the Staff

That said, when I began collecting coins in 1972, I scoffed at the idea of hoarding BU 1972 pennies. Too common, too many around. Nowadays, some people would be interested in them. It always amazes me that we can guzzle Coke and Pepsi all day and, for the most part, never have any negative affects, aside from maybe getting a little belly expansion.
