On Jan 8, the eBayer phdcoins2014, purchased the following 1795 Flowing Dollar NGC-XFenvironmental damage coin from Heritage:
http://coins.ha.com/itm/early-dolla.../1216-5213.s

Before he even received the coin, he listed it on ebay Jan 11:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1795-1-Flow...251789825863

He uses Heritage pictures and says, "coin was previously graded by a third-party grading company, but is no longer certified because I prefer to keep my coins raw and in their original habitat"

I also noticed in his description he didn't mention anywhere that the coin is environmentally damaged.

A loupe reveals moderate obverse hairlines.

So, despite the "environmental" damage designation, did someone clean the obverse, resulting in a wonky retoning?

$2524 with 26 bids and 4d13h to go. In my personal opinion, I would never spend this much on a single coin, but that is because I don't have that much spare money to blow off in the first place

Even with ED, I still like this coin. I would buy it at $1000, but that would be my limit. What a shame that this happened to the coin. Full disclosure about the condition of its condition is the RIGHT thing to do. Shame on the seller.

FUNNY, seller ended this and his other misrepresented Heritage listing this morning at 9AM:
"This listing was ended by the seller because the item was sold."

Well, he might be one of those sellers that monitors this forum. I have noticed more than once that when a topic gets created here about the integrity of an ebay offer/scam, the listings either get pulled or edited.

This is why ebay should have a "block seller" function.
Sellers can block crooked buyers, but buyers can't block
crooked sellers like this. I save sellers like this as
"favorite", and then you can attach notes... I attach
appropriate notes. Just so I never do business with
someone like this... ever.

Does this look cleaned to you? The fields and devices are the same color.

@ratio411, ebay does have a block seller feature, if you save a search go to "more refinements", "seller" and choose exclude and add all the sellers you wish to the list. I have a couple dozen sellers excluded from my saved searches.

@ratio...That 1861 cent appears to be an AU+ (aka slider UNC) details coin that was harshly cleaned in an effort to create luster and pass-off as an UNC. JMO
