This is the second year of a coin that was issued from 1824 to 1847 although the republic was officially dissolved in 1841. During its existence the republic consisted of the territories of the former Spanish Captaincy General of Guatemala -- Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Los Altos (which would become the Mexican State of Chiapas). The principal royalist forces remaining in the former Spanish Viceroyalty of Peru were defeated in 1824, with the final battles concluding in Upper Peru in 1825 marking the end of Spanish rule in South America.
