My next is 1645, but it's a Livonia solidus, so it might be one of these Suczawa mint issues that were made well after the printed date. (If anyone wants to take a guess, the picture is in the "Billon" Smackdown thread in the Ancient forum. Or just search CCF for "1645AD", it's one of the first results.) The next one that has a photo is 1622 (really doubtful, it's far too copper for something the catalogues say is silver, I couldn't find a single picture of any example other than my pics of my own coin, and there's some weird extra metal so I'm not sure I've read the date correctly anyway), then 1615, 1599, and 1521. (There's a long way to go until 1521, naturally, and with all the Hungarian denars that are going to show up around that point I'm not sure I'll even remember.) Other pre-1650 dates I recall having on my coins are 1626, 1600, 1597, and 1517; there are a few French coppers in the 1630s too, I think, but I can't recall precisely.

Looking for 1649 (But you can still post 1650 if you have one.)

My 1649 Livonia Solidus. The "49" is about 11 o'clock, and is much clearer on the coin than on the scan.

Quote: Good stuff. Moving along. Steady as she goes. Unfortunately, the only 1646 I have is one of those Livonia Solidus coins, that are not allowed in this thread. I do have a NGC-graded Livonia Solidus from 1633, which I hope will be acceptable (unless NGC certifies fakes for this series?).

The only 1649 coin was a Livonian solidus and Jbuck didn't stop it, but nevertheless I'll leave the decision to him.

The situation with Livonia solidi is that a lot of them (not really known how much - some say it might have been more than the original run) were made at Suczawa mint a few decades later, with (even) lesser amounts of silver, and backdated to the historical run (sometimes in error); and aside from the "lower silver content" thing, it's almost impossible to tell one from the other. They aren't really "fake" (though they might count as contemporary counterfeits), they just might not have been made in the respective year. It would be like posting a Massachusetts coin for 1652 (I'm surprised nobody did that, actually - I know a lot of CCF members have them). [Not an expert here, though; someone else might know better. For all I know, I might be even misrepresenting the entire situation entirely.]
Ironically, the 1649 coin posted here appears a lot more likely to be a Suczawa mint issue (assuming they're really as common, anyway) than the 1645 coin I asked about originally.

So we are stalled on 1646. Hopefully this will not last too long.

1642 is my next dated coin. Doesn't any UK collector have one of those lozenge-shaped Newark siege coins?

My next is 1645, then 1639, I think (though I don't have a photo of that one). Anyone has anything from 1646?
