I use a setup that's functionally equivalent to the $400 setup described in the coin photography section of this forum, but with a bellows instead of extension tubes and a focusing helicoid. I also use a modern DSLR rather than the older (used) model that's part of the $400 setup, so my setup costs more than $400. Actually, getting sharp pictures is just basic macrophotography. The big problem with coins is with the lighting.

For lightning of the coin, I have seen somewere a setup with a black matte paper before the lens, with a hole punched out (to see the coin of course). The black paper prevents reflections of the light(s). I can get my hands on an enlarger, for very sheap. Perhaps I try that. I use a self-made stand with LED-strips inside, and some macro lenses on a old DMC-FZ50.

Sure, it has been a few days so you can post it at any time.
I do not mind the repeats. People who worked hard to keep the first two editions moving are more than welcome to help do the same here.
