It just seems a bit tendentious to run a second and then a third iteration of the same thing, hoping it will attract new interest.

It's not a new iteration but an attempt to go further into history than will be achieved with those three threads.

it would be a lot easier just to have various 'post your coins from the XX century' threads

There are quite a few centuries where there are not many who will and can contribute, so that thread will hopefully give a quick view of some what is available from the specific times. If you like century specific thread, there is one for the first century AD https://goccf.com/t/193302

I understand the reluctance of past-participants; been there, done that. It is okay, because the new threads are there for those who really enjoy it and those who missed out the first time.

So, if you do not like the thread(s), you do not have to participate. No harm, no foul.

Don't deter people from looking at and posting in in our thread in the ancient forum.

Your better go and buy a 1495 coin, so that the first thread can progress.

I missed out on the previous threads, so, yes... I am happy to see this "new" one.

We are up to the 1461-1470 decade now. And I am desperately waiting for suitable coins to be posted (one fitting one will do), so everyone please check your stash of old coins.
