Decided On A Pocket Piece

Carl, I agree with you. The less I have in my pockets the better I like it. Nowadays with so much stuff to remember, glasses, sunglasses, wallet, cell phone, keys, handkerchief, smokes, matches, etc., it's very easy to develop what I call "pocket problems." In fact, I'm thinking of carrying a purse just to organize all my stuff.

But you know, you can have a pocket piece without actually keeping it in your pocket all the time. I keep my Indian in an easily accessible place and only carry it around from time to time.

Oh, by the way, I was just kidding about the purse.

TSmith3510: You may have been kidding but that is just about what I use. As noted above, except the smokes, and a lot more. I presently use a small camera bag and it's becoming a trade mark. I tell people if your going to a coin show in the area, look for the old guy with the small black camera bag. However, I have to add to your list numerous medications and medical supplies. Now a Cancer survivor, recent cataract operations, just old, need a small pharmacy of stuff all the time. Just no room for a pocket coin. And as they say at the Cancer Hospitals, it's all better than the alternative.
PS: get rid of the smokes.

You ask "what is the point in carrying around an old interesting coin in your pocket." The point is having it readily available as a conversation piece. I carried a vg-f Trade dollar around for a little while. People that know nothing about coins and long time collectors loved to hold it and look at it. They were fascinated with the rich history of Trade dollars too.
