Good afternoon everyone,
My name is Terri and I am from Mississippi, USA.
My favorite coins to collect are Lincoln cents, Shield Cents, Jefferson nickels, State Quarters, and varieties and errors.

I look forward to learning from/with everyone on the forum.

I'm from the United States .Live in Michigan , retired & a coin collector since about ten years old _ approximately 70 years ago . My Grandmother started me out by giving Silver dollars usually Morgans & Standing Liberties when my dad took me visit ( she never told me how she procured them ) . But I always saved them , & only traded those few that low grade for something better . Then I collected Lincoln Pennies , Buffalo nickels & some Barber quarters from my grandmother as she often gave me change _ never spent any old coins ( save those prior to 1920's ). Really got into into US mint coins in the Late 1960's & only purchased Uncultivated & Proof coins . Mostly yearly sets & a few Individual silver dollars of special significance . My US Mint Collection spans 1965-present .
Silver issues , Proof Silver & UnCirculated Yearly sets , Morgans , Peace & Eagles in all the issued Mint Strikes . NO GOLD as too expensive ( wish I had ) but I have one 1928 20 Gold Dollar in circulated ( possibly 64 grade ) a present to my mother & given to me . one Tattered 20 dollar Gold certificate & recently 1/10 ouch 1776/1926 gold proof coin ( now sold out ) most expensive purchase of my life . LOL . Collecting all the 1776/1926 silver coins in various forms as possible .
I say that because in past two years the mints been selling to more coinage to a select few Coin dealers & Others have been cashing in on buying up to resell on E Bay which is flooded with coins reselling at 2x-3x & even 4x the mints selling prices. The real problem lately is the mint had been overwhelmed 2 years ago &
shut down due Hugh volumes of online traffic . They installed 3rd party software called Cloudflare that puts you into a waiting room when sales go on . It's atrocious . Kicked me out 2 times last year & 2x times this year as I was logged in early & the count down froze . Second time was logged in & 10 minutes early & ready to proceed to the product I wanted & it kicked me out & placed me into a 60 minute wait . Had to wait for e bay sellers to procure those coins. Unsure how these sellers can get multiple purchases when Quantities are limited to 1 coin per household . I do most purchases by Subscription ; however the mint has cut back on allowing subscriptions on most of 2026 coins along with lower volumes of coins being minted ( increases their value is a good thing ) .
Certain Coin sellers have been buying up thru unscrupulous methods ( HSN ) has been one source & is on a DO NOT BUY list from many coin collectors . The Seller Mike Matusak ,( last name may be misspelled as it's never been shown on screen ) has been hawking first strike coins at 2-3 times mint prices for the GOLD coins offed in Early March trying to convinced the audience the mint will sell out in he's the only source to purchase those coins . He had 30-40 gold coins of each 1/10 oz . 1/4 oz , 1/2 oz , 1oz & the final set of all 4 coins selling at 2x -3 times the mint prices three days prior to the U S Mint offering to the public .
They sold out . The U S Mint opened & I watched their site for three days as these coins were minted in 30,000 or as low of 19 K amounts & in that time all were still available until five days latter - harly any sales until I finally bought a 1/10 oz coin and latter it closed out . as did the 1/2 oz just in past 2 weeks . All else is still available & HSN has these back for sale as apparently many were returned .The mint has raised prices on mintage especially this year , But the after market has been busy hawking the ill begotten goods to resell , however much has been left unsold on the mints past 3 years of Silver dollars & E Bay sellers are diminished market , just on E bay & selling prices of Revolutionary War Quarters has dropped to 2 x the price increase as they sold out in 3 minutes @ the Mint . Everyone is revolting on the high prices of mint mint & the after market scamming . Sorry but this isn't in the interest of coin collecting .
I'll be slowly limiting new Purchases in next years .

Hello, my name is Bill, I'm 54 and lived all my life in Michigan. I am new to coin collecting, I started about 8 months ago when I started to go through some medical issues and was placed on many restrictions that limited my activities. So to give me something to do that interests me, I took up coin collecting. I hope to meet many on here and learn all I can from this community.

Welcome aboard, Bill. I'm pretty new here myself, though I've been a collector off & on for 60 years. But I can tell you there are a lot of people here who are happy to help and to share their knowledge.

EDIT: By the way, I am from northwest Florida.

Greetings from Pittsburgh, PA.........I am new to coin collecting, but no stranger as a collector!! I'm ecstatic to have finally found a forum that encompasses all the relevant and current information via an extremely dedicated community. I am definitely not fluent enough to feel comfortable about sending out a plethora of coins to have graded. I look forward to hearing from everyone, and just reading through as many posts as I can to build a strong foundation!

Have a blessed day!

My name is Jason and I'm recently retired. Just got curious about coins when I received a 1930 Indian head nickle in my change from Dunkin.
