Haven't bought much yet but local estate auctions that have online bidding and ebay seem to be my main source.

Depends on what I'm looking for. If I want something that is TPG. I go to ebay. My local dealers aren't real big on the TPGS.

I usually just buy from other collectors here or we trade. I travel to a coin shop every couple of weeks or so, but don't do much on ebay, it makes me uneasy.

When I started, I bought most of my coins on ebay. The longer I collect, the less I buy there though. The past couple of years, I was buying most at shows, and some through the one and only good mail order place I know. I have since found a somewhat local dealer I like, so I'm going back to see how that plays out.

It's definitely ebay in the past for me but I also buy a lot from a fabulous local coin store, other auction sites and the bank as well (I buy rolls which I love to go through).

Lately E-bay but bought some coins from seized property auctions websites with ungraded MS gold coins in great condition along with some nice Ancients. Lately any gold coin put out on the block drives bids too high just for its' gold content alone for investment. and the U.S. Mint.

i voted my coin dealer...i do use ebay, but not as much as my dealer. I'm sure he appreciates my service. don't really feel as though ebay is dangerous or scary for a place to buy coins--if it's fake then send it back and simply refute the item. I always use paypal and can retrieve the money

I would have to go with online dealers first and local dealers second. I have found a few online dealers that have treated me well so I continue to support them. same with a few local dealers that I have gotten to know over the years.

I like buying from local coin shops and shows because you can hold it in hand and truly investigate the coin. I have recently been buying off of ebay but find I have to return the coins once I see them. I am always interested in finding other on line avenues for purchasing nice coins. Any suggestions ?

Actually from the Mint, but besides that, evenly split between shows and shops.
