Imitating Cn. Lentulus.
Obverse: Head of Jupiter right
Reverse: Globe between rudder and thunderbolt; small X to right, RAVIS (short for eRAVISci)(S retrograde).
Freeman 4 (dies 2/C);
18.2mm 3.15g

Middle Danube, Eravisci. Imitating C. Postumius. End of the first century B.C. AR denarius .
Both sides somewhat stylized
Obverse: Bust of Diana right, bow and quiver on shoulder
Reverse: Remnants of correct legend, hound running right, spear below; monogram in exergue.
Cf. Crawford 394/1; cf, Freeman 24 (17/P) Chitescu 173.

Obverse: Diademed head of Venus right
Referse: Griffin springing right; below, amphora.

Arados is an island 2 1/2 miles of the coast of Syria and was one of the four major Phoenician Cities. In part two of my reference guide I hope to cover all the areas of the Levant,which includes coins from Phoenicia.

This Philip I AR ant is my favorite of my small collection because it's very nicely detailed and well struck up, and looks great in hand.
