choreboy1 it is very good to see you here! I, as you are probably already aware, the number ONE fan of the Buffalo nickel, both from the past and our new 2005! I waited a life time for that new Buffalo nickel. Haven't had such a rush since the buffalo dollar of 2001 and now, rumor still has it, the new 24K bullion coins will be reproductions of the old Buffalo nickel for 2006? Can you advise on this as I have already started saving my pennies for a 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/2 ounce and the full ounce coins. A one year grab at new gold with a buffalo on it will be a "KEEPER" in my book! Just hope it happens!

I thought the same thing when I first saw it. I actually think it is a very nice design. I jus think it will not translate well to a business strike coin. The proofs might look good, though.

The reverse? Same old, same old. The shoudl have gone to the real original design.

Stujoe, I can't help it. Every time I see that reverse, I expect to see Barney Rubble coming out the door. It looks so cartoonish to me

Maybe the normal Monticello has just worn so thin on me that I would take a Flintstone house over it at this point.

Come to think of it, the reverse of this coin might be an improvement over the 67 year old Monticello design:

That reverse should please just about everyone as I see nothing political or poorly designed there!
Now, after giving old Jefferson another good look over I must say it is MOST definitly an improvement over the other Jefferson we have lived with all of our lives. At least the Mint is trying to make worthwhile changes compared to all the right or left "Flat" profiles we have lived with forever. I don't much care for Jefferson or some of his documented opinions, at the time of his fame, but that goes with most of the Presidents or politicians. Give me Lady Liberty or Buffalos any day!!!
