Yes Amazon99,I am a collector..I have an almost complete set of Peace dollars.Mostly raw coins in BU and MS,and a few in slabs...Just haven't bought any in about 4 years.I also have 5 type II S mint Double Eagles...all slabbed in PCGS holders....just kinda ran out of money,and of course,It's the rarest ones I still need.I wanted the complete series from the San Francisco Mint.Some day,some day....I also have alot of odd coins,mostly U.S...and a couple Gold 8 Reals from the 1700's I need to bring them all home and get a wall safe,so I can look at them more often...I'm having a hard time remembering what all I have..... |

That must be cool working on the slabs then. I bet all of your collection is ANACS PF70/MS70. LOL just kidding. It sounds like you have a great collection going there. Any pictures?

It was a pleasant surprise when I came to work here,that they made coin related molding.As far as pictures goes, I tried to photograph a "supposedly" MS 65 Peace dollar I have,with mixed results.Made the coin look way worse than it is....but I have been reading posts here and have a few things I want to try,so maybe soon.... |

Tell me about it, I have a hard time photographing coins too and sometimes I get descent results. Snoop around the photo forum for help and SuperDave is making a pretty good tutoural overtheir on what to do using a normal point and shoot (well not normal because it has to have some manual features).

I have always just said the letters A.N.A.C.S since it stood for American Numismatic Association Certification Service. For all of you that call it annax (or what ever) what the heck do you call PCGS , pegs?

Never heard it spelled out before. A guy I know who used to work there pronounced it annex. -PP

There is a small difference. PCGS and NGC have no vowels. This keeps most people from even trying to come up with a pronunciation for them. But when you have an acronym containing vowels and consonants and in a form that doesn't violate common english word construction it becomes natural for people to try and pronounce them.
