Hopefully the "failure" of the Kennedy set in barely retaining it's issue price on the secondary value will deter people from buying the LBJ set so I can get mine (or 2)

The 4 silver Kennedy set from last year is selling below issue price. the 2013 Eagle set is selling below issue price. Almost every commem dollar and half in the last 20 years is selling way below issue price.

As mentioned here or in another thread someone said something to the extent of "I want to own a low mintage or valuable coin for once in my life" and these reverse proof dollar coins offer todays collector an opportunity to do so.

Exactly. I want no problems ordering the LBJ set.

I think now with the "currently unavailable" (assuming sellout), we may get a "better late than never" bounce for the flippers. (My strategy/hope with these sets have been to try and hope they appreciate enough where one pays for itself and the one going in the collection, or at least give a good subsidy.)

I sold my only Truman , I of my Ikes, and was happy to unload 1 of my Kennedy sets in a group lot for $410 at our clubs show last weekend. I figure I did OK considering what I would have had to give to ebay and Paypal if I sold them there.

I dumped one of my MOD sets for $75 since I was still sitting on 7 out of the 10 I ordered since they look like a bust in the current and near future

I always bet on the wrong horse. If I would have bought 5 Trumans instead of MOD I would be rich.

I never bet on anything, horses or otherwise.

I am surprised the MOD sets are not doing better. I guess there are enough RP and W dimes to go around.

I still have my JFK sets, figure they won't go lower than the Mint's price (soon anyways) and hopefully they will go back up a little. I did sell my last Truman/Eisenhower for $360 so definitely happy about the price (3x purchase price) but wish I had kept my other Trumans until now. Sold most of them for $120 or less when they first came out. No worries though, instead completed my silver State Quarters, kept current with the lunar series/ATB silver quarters, and a very nice Capped Bust quarter for the 7070. Worth.
