I pretty much got rid of all my common date silver and highly circulated coins I inherited from my Mother to raise cash to begin completing a 7070 Typeset. I look at the 7070 all the time now that is complete, upgrade where possible, and feel more pride in ownership than I ever did for the common stuff. I recommend you sell it if it soesn't give you any pleasure, but before you do, clearly establish what you want to acquire, develop a plan and focus on that.

I've been doing a lot of updating my sets the past couple of years, and I need to sit down and go through my old stuff and get rid of it, too. I am not holding my collection so much as an investment, I just enjoy the collecting, but I don't like to have a bunch of extra stuff, if it can do me some good in my overall collection.

I think most collectors 90%+ will say keep what you have and make future purchases that reflect your interest in investment portion of the hobby. I also think that 90%+ of investors will say SELL sell sell, get rid of what is not preforming well and invest in something you know is going to go up.. kind of a no brainer for them. So I suppose it really all boils down to what type of collector you are, an old school collector or an investor. On the other hand I also believe there are a lot of people who are not hard line one way or another.. a blend of both. If this is the case then it really is nothing more than a matter of taste..

Thanks for all of the thoughts, guys. I think I have decided to start with the Lincolns. I will keep the #1 and #2 sets, the extra key dates and sell the rest. AAAaaaaaaaa naaaa, no I won't

Jim

Oh well, what a problem to have.
