The engraving is based on the painting La Fuensanta by Julio Romero de Torres (who's depicted on the note's front). The woman is María Teresa López González, one of the artist's favorite models. Poland 20 Zloty -  The woman being honored on this note is Maria Sklodowska Curie, Nobel prize winning physicist & chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactive elements. Although she was granted French citizenship, Madame Curie was in fact a Pole by birth.
