Just found on ebay, the "MC Wooden Case" for sale.
Starting from CAD 114 (0 bids yet).
And the seller in Toronto.

Item ID = 121863781572 (this is not mine)

I assume, till there are no bids, seller would agree to sell it for his initial price (even lower), while the buyer in Toronto just will pay the cash and will take it....

Why I say this - be aware and not overpay, if you planning to buy one.

This current trend of throwing everything up on ebay, seems to cheapen any reward given. As value is only measured by the $ amount something will fetch. Most don't take 2 minutes to stop and appreciate the item for what it is.

Were attitudes different prior to ebay. Its hard to comprehend coin collectors, have no use for a beautiful case.
I would like to see photos of the case filled with coins. Are there other high end cases like this on the market.

As I stated earlier in the thread, "as nice as the case is, I just have no use for it".
All my coins come in cases and I am very content with that.
I guess it is just a matter of opinion.
I did however put my case up on ebay last night and its not about the money. I would just rather see someone else use it and enjoy its beauty.
If it sells for the $50 bucks its listed at then so be it.

The best approach.
Collector do not need the case, ready to sell it for price acceptable for the most...yes, why not to give other enjoy it.

It's funny because I think if the RCM didn't package their coins so nicely now, then people would have more use for this case. Instead we already have nice cases.

I certainly appreciate it and will use it. I think it will look good to open it up and see it filled with keepers. It would be interesting to see pictures of different collections. I also agree with those that are happy with the original cases they have, sell it to someone that can make use of it.
Rest in Peace

I was a little disappointed to find that the new 'Geometric Art' coins are ever so slightly too large for the 1-oz holes in the m/c case. My intent was to use the case as an annual display, and fill as the year progresses. After the year, empty it out, (back to their original cases etc) and start over the next year - or Get the next case if I maintain the status.

I'm definitely tempted to place an order. When will this be available for regular people?

The RCM branded case is supposed to be out next release, according to my rep @ Dcadon, I hear your disappointment, I wonder why they don't fit, maybe something wrong with case measurements. I would check into it. I really like the polar bear, stunning color and detail. Along with a very unique approach, definitely not boring. Its very tempting I just don't have the current budget. The set would be stunning in the new case!! Arent 1 oz coins a standard size.

Dcadon could you please start a thread with images of your geometry loan. Since seeing the polar bear on the coin show, I want to learn more about these fascinating coins.

No need to check just be aware of the following:

RCM has 3 different sizes for 1oz silver coin.

a. Standard - 38mm - these coins in their capsule will fit the slots in the case.
b. 40mm diameter, relevant for coins: 100for100, Sacred Teachings, Tribute for the Nickel, Geometry Art and probably some others
c. Piedford - near 34mm - 2010 and 2013 Piedford SML

In addition:
1oz RCM coins that have any kind of "raised" design:
**Raindrop Maple
**Snowflakes
**Glass series
all the above incapsulated into special capsule, that will not enter standard 38mm 1oz slot.
**$25 UHR coins (they bit smaller than 38mm) - these will fit, but need to check regarding the height.

In addition to addition:
RCM silver Dollars, or coins on basis of SD planchet (means 36mm in diameter in RCM capsule), will fit 1oz slots very well, in order to "sit" there, but will be bit loose - still good way do display 36mm's

And another category:
Oversized 25cents, which have diameter 35mm (Birds, Dino, Ducks) will not fit 1/2oz slots, but will fit 1oz slots being loose there.

Great post Silveroid, I figured all 1 oz coins were a standard size. Great to hear it will work with silver dollars. Not impressed that Birds of Canada coins will not fit half oz slots. Its the series that really does need a case!

I read in reviews of geometry sub, that the mint is thinking of selling subscription cases separately. A customer asked if cases would be sold separately. This will probably upset some collects. It will be interesting for sure.

You welcome, Pocket_change.

One of the results of my "buying impulsively in rush" - many subsets, that I wanted to organize to the cases, and till 2013 they weren't available much.

This is good news.
People, in order to not be disappointing, have to understand:
Subscription is the "distribution model", allows to the buyer not to miss the coin, as benefit would be great to receive a free case. Nothing except this. It adds more exclusivity, when the coins of the subscription not distributed as singles in parallel.

....but the box here is just nice container / display, so why not to have it available for purchase from the mint?
And if we speak about this box (for UHR 3 coins set), it will be perfect for 2013 and 2014 Mask coins (very un-popular ones) and might be the Summer moon Mask will fit there.

RCM has long been oblivious to the significance of collection cases and storage boxes that are suitable for the needs of their customers, MC or not. Some but not all series come with a box, those that don't....a mess of 3 or 6 little cases do not make for a convenient or attractive presentation.

With this in mind, CCC or CA offers a much greater assortment, including stackable, frequent sales at better prices.

Those who have need for the free gift will appreciate it because it's free but one RCM collector case is certainly not going to change the world.
