@Silveroid you are usually the one with the good advice. It all depends on mintage too. I just finished reviewing solds of a favorite small dealer. The group of 7 coins for $33-#38 per coin, how sad, these are auction prices. The legacy of the nickel going $57-$68 plus shipping. I am surprised such recent coins, went so low, while issue was $109 each. Today is not the time to buy nclt coins.

"Today is not the time to buy nclt coins."

Not a good time to sell. Good time to buy if you like the coins.

I think like this:
it good time to buy, if you waited several years for specific coins, and now you can get them much cheaper.
Or you just entering the NCLT hobbie - yes, you have great choice to select from.

But but NCLT, same as other for collectibles - you can't grab the items, just because they highly discounted.

Probably non of us interested quickly to fill the RCM case with 24 discounted coins. We look for the new stuff to come, but as Pocket_Change mentioned - this is not good time buying (directly from the Mint)

Actually, I would argue it is good time to sell as well. For example, even though the current spot price is low compare to years ago but the exchange rate make up some of the losses. Same with NCLT, if you have coins that you don't wants or try to get rid of, you could do so with a smaller losses. Eg: A coin you want to sell for $100 used to be $85USD+ now is $70USD ish

This is great price to sell.
When I checked to sell mine (couple of months ago), but decided to keep it, prices locally on Kijiji were CAD 250-300.

So you've done very well with this.

@Nubee you did excellent with the price you received. Very few of us can hope for that price. I meant to say its a bad time to buy at issue prices. I cannot type as fast as I think.

I agree with Lostwords, its a good time to sell to US buyers, so losses will be smaller. I am thinking of doing this also. Its great for new collectors to buy on the secondary market. Back in 2012 when I started buying on the secondary market, a 1981 silver dollar cost $20 without its case.

The market has changed drastically since then. Flippers were making good profit. It was hard to comprehend that prices would ever fall to current levels.

Are you suggesting there's a US buyers market for pre-owned Canadian NCLT? It's widely known that many Americans are world coin collectors and therefore collect Canadian circulation coin. Others have links to Canada. But as far as NCLT, the US has their own mint. Shoe on the other foot -- how many of us are interested in buying US NCLT?

If indeed pre-owned Canadian NCLT appeals to our cross-border cousins, any idea why? And not just because of the price discount - we don't run to the store and clear the shelves of things we don't need every time there's a sale.

I received my case and finally found some time to really look at it. I really like the quality of it it looks amazing with coins in it. my only complaint is a lot of my coins do not fit they are either to big or too small. I find the silver dollars do not look right in the 1 ounce spots but are snug on the half ounce ones. I did manage to almost completely fill it just waiting for my last 1 ounce home front coin.

The mint gave me an excellent case for my coins I feel a bit bad complaining especially when I realize there really is no way to please everyone, other then they send out a question to each MC member asking what size inserts they would like and ship different ones to different collectors.

either way I look forward to next years (sadly for my bank account I am already at the platinum level)

to CCF ChuckB, glad to here you've almost filled your case and are enjoying its beauty. A great suggestion to ask the person, for size of insert.

I would need for $100 and silver dollars. Great post, hope you enjoy your time here.

Maybe this is really not great to buy directly for issue price, but checkout the other forum...
according rumors, collectors prepare for the March, when they will load the items, that directly will upgrade the status to Platinum (Bear with eyes 1kg coin, or Dome shaped antique finish coin), without mentioning the loading with Gold Glass Creatures set, that was available exclusively from RCM, CC&C and Talisman no lower than issue...

Means, yes, still possible to buy, but in the case if budget is really set aside for the coins solely.

@ Wildflower there must be US collectors of Canadian coins, as there was a fair amount of our coins on the American version of our coin show with Steven. I watched a number of their videos of our coins, the prices and pitch are just incredible. If I remember correctly the 2015 1 oz Superman coins were selling for $189 usd. Check out the coin vault with Mike on the Home Shopping Network, its very interesting.
