There is lots of penny collectors out there, surprizes me of some of the prices realized for this type of wrong planchet error, but nothing like having the marketplace set the price.

It is possible however the rolls are getting more difficult to find as most have already been opened.

How can you tell if a coin that is the plated if it is missing some of the coating on the quarters and a also a 2004 penny that has part of it looking different than the other part o Also how many old nickel coins have been recall by the mint and melted
f the obv. Also roughly how many cdn pennies have been melted down and did any us cents get melted too.

Thankfully, the newest Whitman folder (#4049) does NOT include the 2006-P zinc coin in it's listing. This saves me the trouble (ie: expense) of having to get it to complete the penny set.
Interesting though is that the folder DOES have a slot for the steel 2010-RCM cent. It was never circulated; just available in uncirculated and specimen sets, so I don't have a clue why Whitman added it to the set. That said, it's the only Canadian cent I still need to finish my set.

I couldn't find the old strong that mentioned this listing.

This one has been for sale for a while.

The seller jus cut the price from $10,000 to $4,500.

Still would be a record price for the coin I think, but much more reasonable. Maybe it will sell?

Thanks to your post, you motivated me to go through my box and pennies...and the rarest thing I found was a non-magnetic 2006 penny with the RCM mint Mark. Oh Well. All other 2006 pennies with Mint Marks were magnetic.

I have heard that some 2010-steel were circulated...
I love the penny, and am looking to fill a couple small holes in my collection - iirc the 2010-steel is still on my "want" list.

That penny that was listed for $10,000 was reduced down to $4500.00 and sold.
Wow !

The 2010 magnetic penny can be found in the uncirculated set.

Interesting collecting logic... does the newer Whitman holder still have the 1936 dot hole in it?

Wrong. It was circulated, and I have mint-issued rolls of both. When I get around to cracking them, I could probably send you one...

I bought one on ebay uncirculated for $45 Canadian including shipping in 2013. That seemed to be the going price then. I have not tracked the sales of it since.

These are all pretty unusual....I thought I would post the link. Pretty funny that the pre-auction estimate was $200 to $300.
