I kinda think the Faberge egg had a bit to do with the popularity of this Payanka egg, I mean the first thing I thought of was a Faberge egg when I saw the coin for the first time, although I know its a Ukrainian thing.

I thought so too, though I hadn't realized there were so many different types.

As I understand, there is no (or very limited) market for Faberge "replica" as the coins. Originally, purelly de-lux item, that could be afforded by monarchs. So coins....could be interested only for Europien collectors. But taking in account, that seems to be in Europe, the collectors are more "traditionalists", this crystallized and colorized thing as "faberge coin" is out of their interests. Outside of the Europe - not sure, that many know what is this.

Definitevelly interesting info, thank you!

Now interesting to see the development:
will the coin repeat the GITD2 (2014 Gold Superman) or Glass Bumblebee.

Added:
On the other forum , as "sweet memories" was posted the picture of 24 coins (boxed) of Pysanka-1 received by the member from the RCM / CP / other dealer.
The picture has been mysteriously removed, probably by some entity, who doesn't want to remind people about the coin.

Hmm....not much activity

People haven't fully wake up
People not really interested
People are hoarding silently

Any way, with the big thanks to the other forum member, the coin re-confirmed (there was no reason not to believe to OP who is a dealer from Germany), the RCM Item ID, Mintage and the Price are posted.
The hunt (hoard) has been begun.

The only thing certain about the Pysanka coins is that the people who have the first coin will reap benefits.

Its a guarantee that 2nd coins never achieve the price level of the 1st coin. Never seen it. From the Lady Bug coin, to the 2013 Gold Supermnan, to the renewed Voyageur dollar, all subsequent coins have fallen to a certain extent.

Not as bad as the 2nd GITD dinosaur but all 2nd coins only enjoy a small premium over the 1st.

The reasons are simple: Increased mintage and hoarding.

The 2nd coin often increase in mintage as the second Pysanka coin will do.

Hoarding is the main reason for fall in price of 2nd in the series coins. The first coin jumped in price because flippers were uncertain on how well it will do in the secondary market and were reluctant to order. Those coin fell into the hands of collectors rather than flippers.

Now that everyone know how well the first Pysanka did, there will be a mad scramble for the 2nd to get as many as they could. Pretty soon flippers with many coins will be undercutting each other, driving the price down.

This is a story we seen repeating endlessly. So flippers, be cautious.

MoneyPenney described all in detail.

Yes, I also think, that this is the way it go.
Nice addition to the 1-st one, small premium and it's all.

This first one will be "bumped" up a bit - people, who like the theme, and got the second one, but passed over a first - now will search for it.

One exception is the second GITD 2 oz Northern Lights coin, which has far outperformed the first coin in the series.

Was selling up to $500 (and over) at one point while the first remained at $230 average.

However, in January ebay sale prices of the 2 oz Northern Lights coin have dropped.

yes, this was interesting.
In my opinion, the theme played the big role.
The 1-st in series was "kind" of innovative, but not many people cares about firefly. The 3-rd coin (hopefully I am not mixing the series) still available at issue price. But the 2-nd coin....people always liked howling wolves and related stuff.

According the info from the other forum - RCM overplayed with GITD....

Depends on what level of announcement you want.

If you are RCM Master Club, then you get advance notice starting next week. Higher tiers get 1st notice on Monday, Jan. 30. Lower tiers get notice on following days.

The official release date is Feb. 7 but is likely to sell out before then.

You an also start ordering at your local post office starting Thursday, January 26.

Of course opinions will vary but these egg coins don't appeal to me at all. Not buying the hype or the coin. More for you guys I guess.

The first was an anniversary coin. What is the RCM's spin on the second?

Support the same thought.
Unneccesarry (for all except the Mint) edition.
I would understand, if Bank of Ukraine will commission them to distribute in Europe.

Added:
RCM pretty sure expect the sell-out, people will be loading.
And for the Mint is simple job - just paint the triangles, lines and flowers pattern on the egg-shaped coin.

Its just all about the money. People see the 1st coin jump to $300-$400 and now they are on the band wagon. Funny, there was little interest in it in the beginning when it languished for a few days at the RCM and dealers.

There is nothing special about the coin except for the shape.

The RCM don't need any spin. As long as it sells well then its OK with them. After all, they are a business and I am sure they could see how hot the coin was. Dealers probably begged them to mint a 2nd coin.

The RCM even increased the mintage so guaranteeing more profit for them.
