I think it has relatively good strike for a 1925S

EF-40 , Lincoln's profile a little weak, but I'm leaning towards strike not wear . Nice wheatie .

Nice coin. AU-58, might pull low MS if you take it out of the holder and take better pictures.

I wonder the contaminant on the reverse could be stripped or washed away. I will take a better picture when I receive the coin.

By TPG's standards, that coin probably won't grade cleanly due to the questionable color on the reverse. However it is a good looking coin, one in which I would go a high AU. The reverse strike is very strong, its usually a mushy strike on most examples.

I like it because the red brown color and slightly impaired luster in the range of low mint state MS62. The reverse seems to have some splash on it. If it is removable, this will be great.

MS-55, this is one I'd have to see in hand, is there any cartwheel luster? ....too hard to judge from photos. That is an EXCELLENT example with a strong reverse.

Quote: I wonder the contaminant on the reverse could be stripped or washed away. Not a "contaminant", these are stains either from unintentional exposure to something or from a poor conservation (leaning toward the later since the obverse has a bit of corrosion at 9 o'clock). Those are areas where the original patina has been removed. You cannot remove something that has already been removed.

Have to agree - pics (especially the obverse) suggest AU.

My guess is ex-45 based on obverse wear

This is what looks like in hand. The color of original picture is off.

It is hard to see in picture. The cartwheel is not damaged for both sides.

Tough coin to grade. I am between high AU (55/58) and low MS (61/62). 25-S is notorious for poor strikes, so luster is probably what determines it in my book.
