nss-52 - Now's the time to start your missing layer coin collection. Here's an item to go with the "missing layer cent". Sold by the same Seller recently for 99 cents:

The super rare 2010 Sacagawea MISSING MANG laer ERROR!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-Sacaga...047675.l2557

That dollar sold for 99˘.

Missing a MANG must not bring a premium price....

Smokeriderdon - You might still be able to retrieve the picture. Click on "Tools" at the top of this page. Next click on " ebay Tools" from the menu on the left side of the screen. Finally, click on "Get large listing image", it's about a third of the way down the menu. From there, follow the instructions to retrieve the picture from the auction.

If I'm not mistaken, this very clever device was invented by CCFs very own bobby1313 ( My memory isn't what it used to be, so I could be wrong about the attribution. If it wasn't bobby, my apologies ).

I've used this tool a couple of times and it usually works like a charm. Jack

Man, I chuckled when I first read this post, but I just looked at all his offerings. Wow. All this time and I didn't realize that wheat cents had layers, or were clad.

gymcoachdon - You're right he is a class act, for sure. Apparently he has no capacity for shame. If you look up the word "SLIMEY" in the dictionary, you'll see his picture. I laughed too, but it's kind of a sad sorta laugh. Jack

I cannot believe it! I recently won an ebay auction for a 1943/2-P Jefferson nickel . I won it at a great price and was happily waiting for it to arrive. I didn't pay ANY attention to the Seller, other than noting his/her 99.3% feedback rating . The coin arrived today and it's exactly the right coin . I was preparing to leave the Seller feedback when I realized it is the exact same Seller we have been talking about on this thread . I got lucky this time, but I really need to slow down and pay closer attention to the auctions. Here's the thread:

With this seller, I would always wonder if this was a true overdate, or just a bit of PSD. There are other die markers for this to which you can compare to confirm this nickel's authenticity as the overdate.

The-Extremely-Rare-1964-D-Jefferson-Nickel-With-An-

Getting an example of the only Jefferson nickel overdate for under $15 would be pretty cool.

nss-52 - You are totally right about being suspicious. I was concerned about its authenticity as well. I have a best friend, here on CCF, that has AMAZING magnification ability (Earle42). I asked him to check it out for me, and it is definitely a 43/2 (it also has some double die aspects). I was pretty shocked at the final price. I was prepared to go much higher. I'm pretty sure this Seller didn't intend for it to sell at such a low price. I guess, every once in a while, we all get lucky. Apparently this was my turn. Jack

Today's value-packed offering. From the ebay Seller you know and trust, we submit for your consideration, a 1914 Barber quarter, RARE, PLANCHETTE ERROR!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1914-Barber...AOSwwPhWk~iX

This coin was struck on a planchette that was too thin . The thinness of the planchette has nothing to do with the fact that the coin has been circulating for 102 years . Instead, your trusted ebay Seller , has identified a new rarity that was struck on a "too thin planchette ." If you hurry, and lay down the paltry sum of $500, you can be the first on your block to own this sensation . Hurry, this key scarcity may not be offered for sale again in our lifetime! Jack

oriole - There must be some mistake. Our trusted ebay Seller lists this as a "first", a "new discovery." If it were common, he wouldn't be selling it for $500, would he? or, would he? (LOL) Jack

I literally could not stop laughing as I read this. I never knew wheat pennies were clad either-- I guess you learn something new everyday

Omg look at this bargain http://www.ebay.com/itm/1939-D-Merc...4?nav=SEARCH

I can't believe nobody has noticed this amazing deal. Circular cracking of the planchet? Ive never seen such a geometric error before--it must be pretty rare. Post mint damage? I think not

He now offers a dozen "discovery" pieces. It is easier to "discover" errors that you are making up.

Buckwill - Thank you for sharing that 19319-D, Mercury Dime. That's one that I need to complete my set! He's only asking $199 (of course there's the $2.45 in shipping charges).

I could sure use some advice about offering a "Make an Offer." I don't want to low ball it, and lose the deal. What to do, what to do? Jack
