There is a correction in my post of 2nd January 2024. Ayilyam Tirunal Ramavarma (1850-80) needs to be read as Ayilyam Tirunal Ramavarma (1860-80). Sorry for that error.

Thank you drnsreedhar for this excellent educational thread. I am learning so much! I am just in the early phase of my coin collecting journey focusing on coins from India. I came across a coin that I suspect is a princely state coin but haven't been able to attribute it. ~11g, 27mm. Any guidance on where this coin could be from? Any help is much appreciated! In those days, 28 chukrams made a rupee of local sircar. British rupee bore a premium of half a chukram or 8 cash. This count rather than weight of coin was used in transactions.
The equation is 4 chukrams=1 panam.7 panams went into one rupee.That always made it 7x4=28 chukrams to a rupee.

The coin that you posted is not familiar to me. The names read Nasir shah and Husain shah. Could be either Nasir bin Husain or vice versa.

Thank you. After some more sleuthing, I believe the coin is actually from the Bengal Sultanate, from Nusrat Shah, 1519-1531 AD, from the Muhammadabad mint.
