My comments were aimed at all the recent coins posted by GR58 that drew ANACS detail grades. With regard to this 1800 Half Cent, I expect that an average collector wanting this as a type coin would pay the strongest price, were it outside a slab with a details grade.

All opinions are very welcome. Sometimes opinions and experience
will be a little different.

I have not posted all the coins I got back. Sometimes there are coins
that buyers feel better, as far as being authentic.

For example, a 1908 S Indian Head cent. I knew it was cleaned, I bought
it very cheap. I have seen a lot of fake 08 S IHC's.

Maybe I am funny, I would rather a buyer know what he is getting and
not be unhappy.

Man GR58, I think you got the short end of the stick on all of these Details grades. They're all close to the Details border, but I wouldn't have slapped any of them with it. Tough break. To me they're all attractive coins.

That's an honorable attitude, GR58, yet I'm in full agreement with Mike1487 who wrote ...

There are far more positive aspects to these coins than negative ones. I'd be quite surprised if the future owners of these "decent but verbally downgraded" coins keep them in ANACS holders that accentuate such marginally negative attributes. Just my take ...

Yes, the details grade on this one was a bit harsh imo. Any minor corrosion is so old it shouldn't matter that much. Not like it's a dug coin or anything. Quite a few normal wear hits, but should have graded problem free. my .02

I've never been a fan of EAC's net grading approach - it's just another opinion, but based on different criteria than most people are used to. Just show me the coin first, please, and I'll consider outside opinions afterward.
