You haven't, by any chance, read the book American Nations by Colin Woodard, have you? I only ask because Woodard refers to the West Coast as the Left Coast (like you said in your post) and the western interior as the Far West. On that note, I agree that Denver fits the bill better than San Francisco, as it is part of the Far West.

I am a little late on this one, but finally had some decent images made;

It may look strange, but these are not two different coins, just an improper mix of the alloy.
