Start one! Buffalo nickels are pretty easy to get, and you can find them in very nice condition (and toned) at reasonable prices. https://www.vcoins.com/en/Search.as...signed=False

Lisa, I can very much see myself starting this kind of collection. Currently, I have ordered that red coin book, a magnifying glass to view the coins and some mylar flips to put my grandpa's coins in. Thanks for the link to purchasing Buffalo nickels! I bookmarked it for future reference. I can really get excited about collecting them. I think because it reminds me of my childhood.

If you're already spending money on books and paraphernalia, you really do have the bug!

Hope the magnifying glass you ordered is just what you need. I'm having some trouble finding something that a) Relieves eye and neck strain if I'm looking at coins for very long, and b) gets me "close"'enough to really see details. A loupe helps with the REALLY small stuff, but I want something that lets me take in the whole coin in good detail.

Oh yeah, I was also going to say, you'll probably have more fun buying from brick and mortar stores, where you can look them over. Photos don't really capture things that can make a coin great, like toning and luster.
