This 1870 Indian Head cent with the Pick-Axe Variety is about to be sent off to PCGS for grading. Meanwhile, what do you all think about the grade if this coin? All thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks

1870 Pick-Axe

I'd say mid-VF, but it looks like there's some rim damage on the reverse..
Rest in Peace

Both are damaged. I would just attribute them and put em in 2x2's.

Yea, I think the reverse rim damage is going to give the coin a details grade, but it has such a nice obverse that I would like to keep the coin if I could sell the 1870 DDO and DDR (which also seems to have damage).I picked this one cheap on ebay for $120, but the pictures were bad so I couldn't really see the rim danage. Anyways, thanks to all who commented!

To me .. pictures make negatives look worse than they do in hand.

Looks mid VF, I will be interested to see if it gets a "Details"

I really hope so. In hand, the rim damage doesn't look as bad as in the photo, but is definitely still noticeable, even more so under magnification.

***RESULTS*** Pics Below

Great news! First of all, PCGS returned my order of 4 coins very quickly. They were accepted on November 30th and shipped on December 15th. Secondly, and most importantly, this coin graded without a details grade as a VF-25!

So what do you all think about this grade?

Here is a TrueView.
