Lovely looking banknote with the Quetzal currency and picture of the Quetzal bird. Last year we visited Chichen Itza and if you clap, you get an echo back that sounds like the bird.

It's interesting that their currency is named after the Quetzel bird. I wonder how often that's ever happened. I guess technically our Canadian dollar coin is called a 'loonie' so that sort of counts.

I went back through this topic to see all of the cool notes and I had forgotten that there is a running list of odd denominations on the first few pages, curated by member DL20K (who also started this topic). DL20K hasn't posted since 2017. Anyone have any intel?

Hi @Longbeard - the highest face value issued notgeld is often quoted as the Duesseldorf 100 Billionen mark (100,000,000,000,000m).....but Crefeld issued a 200 Billionen mark piece. (There was also a 'Billiarde' note made in Duderstadt but that never went into circulation - picture taken from Alfred Diessner's 'BILLIONENSCHEINE' catalogue. That would have had another set of 3 zeros!!)
I just saw the first picture has prices - they are already sold - sorry.

You won't find the last 2.
The Duesseldorf 2 you can sometimes find. Be careful with the price you pay. Prices are sometimes ridiculous, especially from American dealers / sellers.
